Honoring the sociolinguist Joshua Fishman on his receipt of the ADFL Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession, speakers will discuss how Fishman has inspired a generation of scholars, educators, and advocates who work in the fields of heritage language education, bilingual education, American mulitingualism, language and society, language and ethnicity, “non-state peoples,” language planning, and the sociology of Jewish languages other than Hebrew.
