Huang, Penn State Univ., University Park; C. P. Haun Saussy, Yale Univ.; Shu-mei Shih, Univ. of California, Los Angeles; Ban Wang, Stanford Univ. How can the study of Chinese literature be configured in the transformed humanistic scholarship in North American universities? The study of literature in general has undergone major changes, including new theoretical paradigms as well as the aspiration to overcome a conventional focus on Europe and to define teaching and research agenda on world literature. These tectonic shifts raise questions about the map of literary study, within the academy and within the MLA.
