Presiding: Ivan Callus, Univ. of Malta Speakers: Micheal Sean Bolton, Arizona State Univ.; Scott DeShong, Quinebaug Valley Community Coll., CT; Irving Goh, Cornell Univ.; Svitlana Matviyenko, Univ. of Missouri, Columbia; Matthew A. Taylor, Univ. of North Carolina, Chapel Hill Respondent: Stefan Herbrechter, Coventry Univ. This session revisits and critiques some of the foremost concerns within posthumanism. Issues arising in the discussion include posthuman subjectivity; prosthetics and posthumanist disability studies; posthumanism, finitude, and the prospect of “life after people”; shifting relationships among humans, animals, and machines; cybernetics; the politics and ethics of the posthuman; the idea of a “posthumanism without technology.”
