Poetry and drama’s intersections involve a vast sweep of sociohistorical practices. From Aristotelian theory to Artaud’s theater of cruelty, Shakespeare and Milton to Gertrude Stein and Amiri Baraka, through postmodernist revisions of the Noh tradition, guerrilla performance and the slam scene, poets theater has proved a malleable and enduring genre. This roundtable gathers scholars and practitioners for brief presentations of and about exemplary works, opening onto a moderated discussion of the site of production, means, and materials of poets theater.
