Thomas, Univ. of California, Los Angeles; Subha Xavier, Univ. of Miami This session seeks to promote discussion about the stakes of francophone studies in the United States, some fifty years after political “independence” was achieved by several francophone sub-Saharan African countries. The session promises to extend this important cultural, political, social, and pedagogic debate.
