Session Description:
This roundtable explores representations of black women's sexualities in African American literature and culture to illuminate how black women, through the trope of racialized and gendered sexuality, demonstrate sexual agency despite the historical politics of respectability, silence, and nonconsensual "avenues of access" to black women's bodies.
