Wollaeger, Vanderbilt Univ. Responding: Steven Caton, Harvard Univ. Session Description: The study of world literature is growing rapidly in contested terrains: world literature as the best; as circulating in translation or mediation; in relation to power and domination (e.g., in relation to postcolonial studies); in relation to globalization; in relation to commodification. The panelists will describe their particular positions on the field, and an anthropologist will respond.
