Labov, Ohio State Univ., Columbus; Marta Rabikowska, Univ. of East London This session will focus on changes in cultural production and on shifting definitions of high and low culture that have affected scholarly approaches. Are the definitions of cultural studies and culturology consistent across the different postsocialist academic contexts? How have changes in the cultural landscape and popular media affected the dissemination of cultural studies into a territory once occupied by culturology?
