Participants will discuss their experiences in teaching English in learning communities—sets of paired classes in which one set of students is taught and supported by two faculty members on related topics. Research is beginning to demonstrate that learning communities are successful for some types of learners, but there are also issues that may make them less successful. We will discuss the positive effects of learning communities and provide examples of how to set them up more effectively.
