Session Description: Answering a bipartisan call from four members of Congress, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences has created the Commission on the Humanities and Social Sciences to recommend specific steps that government, schools and universities, cultural institutions, businesses, and philanthropies can take to support the liberal arts. This panel will examine the critical role that humanities scholars play in public life.
