Levine, Univ. of Maryland, College Park; Elizabeth Renker Session Description: This roundtable will discuss particular “fault lines” in standard narratives of American literary history, including how we understand the political culture of the 1820s and 1830s; women novelists writing in the second half of the nineteenth century; literary historians from the 1890s; postbellum American poetry; and the current state of the disciplinary field vision.
