18. New Approaches to Sexuality and Nineteenth-Century American Literature

3:30–4:45 p.m., 407, Philadelphia Marriott

A special session

Presiding: Christopher Looby, Univ. of California, Los Angeles

Presider's Annotation:
This session continues a conversation that will have begun in a special issue of ESQ, forthcoming imminently, co-edited by Christopher Looby and Christopher Castiglia and featuring essays by Jordan Stein, Valerie Rohy & Elizabeth Fenton, Dana Luciano and Heather Love. The special issue is available now on Project Muse; copies will also be available at the convention, on display in the exhibit hall at the Council of Editors of Learned Journals booth (#817), and in the room where CELJ's "Chat with an Editor" takes place: 203-B at the Convention Center, from 9-1 on Dec. 28 and from 9-5 on Dec. 29. The special issue need not be read ahead of time; rather, it provides a reference point and premise for a roundtable discussion that will draw new voices into the conversation.

Speakers: Thomas Augst, New York Univ.; Bruce Burgett, Univ. of Washington, Bothell; Christopher D. Castiglia, Penn State Univ., University Park; Elizabeth A. Fenton, Univ. of Vermont; Valerie Rohy, Univ. of Vermont; Jordan Alexander Stein, Univ. of Colorado, Boulder
