Calls for Papers
Calls for papers for the 2013 convention in Boston are no longer available.
CHICAGO 2014
If you wish to submit a call for papers for the 2014 convention, please visit www.mla.org/cfp_main beginning in August 2012.
Calls for papers for the 2014 MLA convention will be accessible on this page from August 2012 through March 2013.
The 2014 convention will be held in Chicago from 9 to 12 January. Members should familiarize themselves with the guidelines for the MLA convention before responding to calls for papers. If the organizer's address is not provided in the call for papers, it will be available on the MLA Web site to MLA members. All participants in convention sessions must be MLA members by 7 April 2013. Organizers are responsible for responding to all inquiries. A member may participate (e.g., by organizing and chairing a meeting, reading a paper, or serving as a speaker, presider, or respondent) only twice at a convention.
Please note: A call for papers is not a session proposal but a way to solicit paper submissions for creating a session proposal. Program copy forms for the 2014 convention will be available at www.mla.org/convention after the 2013 MLA convention. Completed program copy forms must be submitted by 1 April 2013.
All requests for audiovisual equipment must be made on the appropriate program copy forms and submitted by 1 April 2013. Because the need for audiovisual equipment is a major factor in the scheduling of meetings (and because the movement of equipment is both costly and hazardous), the deadline is firm. Participants must indicate their audiovisual needs when they respond to a call for papers and should check with the chair of the session or with the MLA convention office to be sure that the necessary equipment has been ordered by 1 April 2013.
Calls for papers are limited to thirty-five words, including the session title but not the name or address of the organizer.
