These three papers were presented at the Modern Language Association convention in 1999. They provide a brief history of the academic labor movement, information on "building coalitions of resistance," and advice on eliminating apathy.
Coalition of Graduate Employee Unions
This coalition is devoted to promoting the interests of graduate students who are in unions or attempting to unionize. It provides a forum for graduate students to meet and discuss goals, strategies, and leadership development. The coalition also hosts an annual conference. The Web site includes answers to common questions about graduate student unions, information about the annual conference, graduate employee union news, and links to additional resources.
