Council Statement on Learning Another Language

The MLA Executive Council’s statement on the importance of language learning is now available on the MLA Web site. The statement argues that providing students with the opportunity to acquire fluency in a second language is the obligation of educational institutions and sets a goal of advanced fluency for all college graduates. We encourage you to read the statement and share it with colleagues and administrators, especially at institutions where language programs are threatened.
