Data on PhD Recipients in English and Other Languages

The Report on the Survey of Earned Doctorates, 2008–09 is now available on the MLA Web site. The report, which presents data from the National Science Foundation’s 2009 census of doctorate recipients in the United States, documents a continuing decline in the number of recipients of PhDs in English and a more modest decline in the number of PhDs in other modern languages.
