JSTOR’s Early PMLA Content Opened to Nonsubscribers

Issues of PMLA published before 1923 are now available free to the public through JSTOR.org. Visitors can read an account of the first MLA convention and the origins of PMLA, Frederick Tupper’s classic essay “Chaucer and the Seven Deadly Sins,” and a 1915 reference to movies in the classroom. These articles and nearly 500,000 others from 222 journals published before 1923 in the United States and before 1870 elsewhere are available through an initiative to make early journal content accessible to scholars not affiliated with subscribing institutions.
