Institutional Subscriptions

PMLA Is Now Online

Library subscribers can receive current PMLA issues electronically; 2010 subscribers will also receive all 2002-10 issues in electronic form. A subscription to the print and electronic versions of PMLA, which includes the annual volume of Profession, in both formats, is only $180. The electronic version allows users to view issues in PDF and search them. An institutional subscription including a bound volume at the end of the year is $350, domestic and foreign.

An online archive of PMLA issues from 1884 to 2004 is available through JSTOR.

MLA International Bibliography

The MLA International Bibliography is no longer available in print format. Libraries can subscribe to an electronic format of the bibliography.

Literary Research Guide, 5th ed., by James L. Harner

Electronic format for libraries

Previously available only in print, the Literary Research Guide will be available in September 2009 in a searchable online format for libraries. A comprehensive, annotated listing of reference sources in English literary studies, the fifth edition includes new entries describing resources published since May 2001, revisions of nearly half the entries from the fourth edition, and many more entries on electronic resources. The online format of the Literary Research Guide will be an especially helpful tool for librarians assisting users in evaluating reference sources in the humanities.

The online format features automatic linking to reference sources in your library's catalog, as well as a personalization tool that allows users to save searches and citations for later use. The electronic Literary Research Guide will be updated regularly. Libraries pay an initial fee to establish access to the electronic format of the fifth edition and an annual update fee to maintain access.

About PDF Files

Downloadable documents are in Portable Document Format (PDF). These files can be viewed, saved, and printed in identical form on most computers. Adobe Reader is free software for using PDF files. If it is not installed on your computer, you can download it from Adobe Systems. For those who use screen readers, recent versions of Adobe Reader include text-to-speech and other accessibility functions, and Adobe provides online tools that convert PDF files into HTML or ASCII text.
