Since 1958 the Modern Language Association has been conducting studies of language enrollments in all postsecondary institutions. These studies are underwritten by grants from the United States Department of Education (in 2009, grant # P017A090350). Our survey concerns all languages other than English. We appreciate the cooperation that directors of institutional research, registrars, and deans of enrollment have extended during past surveys. Our grant requires us to tabulate data for all institutions. Your prompt reply will save the expense of additional efforts to reach you. Even if your institution had no students enrolled in language courses, your response is necessary to our tabulation.
