Forum Executive Committees for the 2026 Convention Year (13 Jan. 2025–11 Jan. 2026)
MLA forums—formerly divisions and discussion groups—encompass the scholarly and professional concerns of the association. They promote scholarly and professional activities within their areas of concern. MLA members have the option of choosing up to five primary forum affiliations but may join as many forum groups on MLA Commons as they wish and participate in these forums’ discussions.
Each forum is governed by an appointed executive committee whose five members serve terms of five convention years. A convention year begins after the close of one convention and continues through the close of the next; it is named for the convention that concludes the year. Listed here are the forum executive committees for the 2026 Convention Year (13 Jan. 2025–11 Jan. 2026). The date that follows the name of each executive committee member designates the convention that concludes the final convention year of the committee member’s term and, thus, the final January convention that falls within his or her term of service. The listings below indicate which committee members are currently serving as chair and secretary. Normally, this year’s secretary becomes next year’s chair.
